Job description
• Assist in servicing and maintaining equipment, as directed by the Maintenance Manager
• Ensures excellent maintenance records
• To determine work procedures, the Plant Equipment Mechanic must be able to read blueprints, diagrams and schematic
• According to layout plans, using hand and power tools, the Plant Equipment Mechanic must be able to install, align, dismantle and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment, such as pumps, fans, tanks, conveyors, furnaces and generators
• Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools and welding equipment.
• To position machinery and parts during the installation, set-up and repair of machinery, the Plant Equipment Mechanic must be able to operate hoisting and lifting devices such as cranes, jacks and tractors
• Inspect, examine, and provide preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions
• Advises the Maintenance Manager on any necessary preventative steps
• Install, troubleshoot and maintain power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and programmable logic controls
• Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts
• To fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance or set-up of machinery, the Plant Equipment Mechanic must be able to operate machine tools such as lathes and grinders
• Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery
• Construct foundations for machinery or direct other workers to construct foundations
Employment Requirements:
• Completion of secondary school and training courses in related field
• Minimum 3 year of related experience or a combination of experience and some college or other program
• Previous experience in a warehouse environment is considered an asset
• Physical demanding: able to lift up to or more than 50lbs and to work on your feet for extended periods
